AOPEruwa student Akinsuyi Samuel shot: C.P orders trials for police officers



 Oyo state Commissioner of Police CP Ngozi Onadeko has appealed to the students populace for the unprofessionalism conduct of the officer who fired gun at Akinsuyi Samuel of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa last Friday.


She made this known during a mediation meeting with the Students' Union representative of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa and National Association of Nigerian Students NANS JCC Oyo state at the Police Headquarters in Eleyele on Monday March 14th 2022.


While responding to the stand of the union, she said internal disciplinary committee have spelt out punishment on the four erring officers and trials for them has began.


"We are aware that our officers misbehaved and personally I am not happy with what happened. The Internal Disciplinary Committee of the Nigerian Police Force has meted out punishments on them and it doesn't end there because they would still undergo trials."


Comrade Musa Aanuoluwapo, the Students' Union President of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa complained of non-stop police harassment of students on Eruwa- Ibadan highway and urged the Police Force to see into it with immediate effect to prevent further unfortunate happenings.



The Deputy Commissioners of Police present at the meeting DCP Waheed Ayilara in charge of operations and DCP Sonubi Ayodele in charge of investigation said cases of Police harassment and immoral conducts should be reported so situations can be handled in a civilised manner. They therefore assured that behavior of officers will be thoroughly checked and checkmated more than ever before. 


The need to orientate students on a proper attitude with the police was also spelt out. By avoiding being rude and spiteful to officers who are diligently carrying out their duties.


The NANS JCC chairman in Oyo State, Comrade Asiwaju urged the Commissioner to effectively implement the Police Students' desk where matters pertaining students will be tabled and addressed to.



The Union later went to check on the well-being of Samuel at his parent's residence in Ibadan who is fairing much better.

Police Shot Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Finalist In Eruwa



 Akinsuyi Samuel, a business Administration finalist of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa has been shot at the leg by a yet-to-be-identified officer of the Nigeria Police Force on his way from Eruwa to Ibadan on Friday 11th March 2022.



It was gathered that Samuel and his friends were in their personal vehicle travelling down to Ibadan when they were stopped by some police men and one of them fired a bullet through the door of the passenger's seat right inside the car.


Samuel just concluded his Ordinary National Diploma and defended his project this week.



He has been taken to Awojobi clinic at Eruwa for treatment and presently cannot walk on his feet as he was seen been moved about on a wheel chair.


A protest had therefore been led by the Students' Union Government of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa to the Divisional Police Headquarters at New Garage Eruwa to demand justice against the brutality and fetch out the criminal. 


According to the Students' Union President, Comrade Musa Aanuoluwapo said the brutality has been tolerated to the extreme and would no longer be overlooked.

"This is one of our students and we all are fed up of the inhumane acts of the Nigerian Police Force who fire shots indiscriminately, the police officer must be identified and reprimanded."


Meanwhile there has not been any positive response from the Divisional Police Officer DPO Lawani Godwin regarding the brutal occurrence.
