Students' Union members pick litters on campus

 


It was an unusual Tuesday and the first of it's kind in Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa as the Students' Union Government led by examples to pick refuses around the school environment.


Tagged : Keep The Campus Clean (KTCC) is one of the programs lined up for the SUG Freshers week in the first semester 2020/2021 Academic Session. The week runs from Monday 23rd August till Friday 27th August 2021.



The joint union members including the Students' Union Executive and the Students' Representative Council were seen complying with the Covid-19 protocols even as they perform their civic duty on campus. It was an operation mask on and gloves on during the entire project.



Speaking on the reason for the first of it's kind initiative in the school, the Students' Union President Comrade Musa Aanuoluwapo said leadership is not just by saying but by doing.

 "As the name of the team says Quintessential, we are to serve as pacesetters for any other union administration that may want to come on board after us."

He further added that the cleaning exercise, though was thought of twice, is a way to totally humble themselves before students and inculcate in them why they must keep not just Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic clean but anywhere they are.



The Speaker of the Students' Representative Council, Comrade Adeyemo Micheal described the initiative as the act of giving back to the school at a time when cleanliness is highly esteemed. He encouraged students to prioritize proper sanitation whether indoor or outdoor.


Other Union members also said, Keep The Campus Clean project is to reawaken the students on civic consciousness and the virtue of humility.


Although the project seemed strange to students at first, it was later found exciting by them who turned out in some numbers to request gloves and  pick up the wastes.


There were side attractions like music, pictures and health talks.

Earlier, there was Quintessential Monday where the team went into all classes to enlighten the students on Covid-19 protocols and a face to face campus information update instead of the regular press releases.





Wednesday 25th is for Sports, Thursday 26th is the Interdepartmental Awareness on indecent dressing while Friday 27th is for Munch It Campus Activation and Freshers night.

AOPE matriculates new students for the 2020/2021 Academic Session


 "Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa is an institution that cherishes a good name and image." This was said by the Acting Rector of the institution, Mr Peter Adejumo, while delivering his speech at the Matriculation ceremony on Thursday 5th August 2021.


He welcomed the newly admitted students for the 2020/2021 Academic Session and congratulated them on the conferment of studentship on them which concludes their admission processes.



In his words, "the school is where the brain is tasked, life is moulded and where there is procedure for activities." Some of the activities include standard mode of dressing and proper moral conduct during examination.


He therefore urged the matriculants to know their purpose as students and work towards that goal by being punctual in class, listening attentively during lecture hours, doing assignments regularly and studying hard so as to come out with good grades.


"The award of certificates is not based on academic performance alone, you must be found worthy in character before you will earn your certificate."


He also dissuaded students from joining bad associations that will end up destroying their academic career.


Earlier, the newly admitted students for both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma were led to take the matriculation oath by the Acting Registrar, Mr Dele Oladipupo.




Also at the event was the launching of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Eruwa documentary which was produced by the Mass Communication Department under the leadership of Mr Ismail Adediran.


The Matriculation ceremony which took place at the New Lecture Theatre (NLT) 1 had in attendance the newly admitted students from the four faculties, principal officers, Dean of Students Affairs Pastor Ibukun Adewusi, deans of faculties, Students Affairs Officer Pastor Sunday Ola, members of management, and the Students union executive.
